The study permit is a document that IRCC issues to allow foreign nationals to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. Most foreign nationals need a study permit to study in Canada.

You can come to Canada and study if:

You are enrolled in DIL
Proof of financials to support yourself for:

Tuition fees

Living expenses for yourself

Proof of Return trip

Medical Examination

Background check, required to prove Police certificate

Post Graduation Work Permit
You may be eligible for a post-graduation work permit (PGWP) if you graduated from a designated learning institution (DLI) and want to stay in Canada temporarily to work.

​Graduation from a DLI doesn’t automatically make you eligible for a PGWP. Check the DLI list to find out which schools have eligible programs.
